Youth Nationals Entry for the UK's premier Youth Event is now open at SailRacer. The RYA Volvo Youth National Championships takes place at Hayling Island Sailing Club, 9-14 April 2011. The event will be used for both selection of Team GBR for the ISAF Youth Worlds in Croatia and a review of Youth Squads. More... Global Warmup - register for free now At the halfway stage of the SailJuice Global Warm-Up 2011, Matt Biggs and Ben Hollis have sailed their Merlin Rocket to the top of the leader board and with eight different classes featuring in the current top 10 standings, the rankings are wide open and with a wide cross section of boat configurations. The final two events, the Steve Nicholson Trophy at Northampton and Tiger Trophy at Rutland will settle who wins the series and with a great range of prizes spread across all categories everyone has a chance to win. Steve Nicholson – last call for entries The annual Steve Nicholson Memorial Trophy will be held at Northampton Sailing Club on Saturday 29th January 2011 with all proceeds raised going to the Asthma UK charity. This event gets bigger every year and this time is set to be no different with three different fleets Single Handed, Double Handed and Asymmetric. All classes are welcome. Tiger Trophy The Tiger Trophy was adopted as a regatta to raise money for the John Merricks Sailing Trust (JMST) with a large proportion of the entry fee going directly to the JMST. Three races are sailed back to back on Saturday and the fleet will be divided into fast and slow handicap fleets, with all sailing the same course. This enables average lap times to be established over the whole fleet and an overall winner decided. Following the TIGER DINNER on Saturday evening, the annual Tiger Trophy Pursuit race on Sunday is non-discardable and has for many years been the downfall of some exceptional sailors. The final challenge to win all four races and the special £1000 bounty has still not been met. Prize giving in 2011 will coincide with the opening of the newly constructed John Merricks Training Centre at RSC. More...
