SailRacer End of year news

SailRacer Newsletter

28th Dec 2010

With the festive season coming to an end, now is the time to look forward to some of the key winter events coming up.

SailJuice Global Warm-up
The second edition of the SailJuice Global Warm-up brings together four of the biggest winter handicap racing events into a unified series to find who is tough enough to race their way through the brutal cold of a British winter. Earlier this year competitors battled their way through the first ever Global Warm-up, and this winter's early snow hints at another tough challenge ahead.  Further details on the SailRacer event website.

Tiger Trophy
The Tiger Trophy was adopted as a regatta to raise money for the John Merricks Sailing Trust (JMST) with a large proportion of the entry fee going directly to the JMST. Three races are sailed back to back on Saturday and the fleet will be divided into fast and slow handicap fleets, with all sailing the same course. This enables average lap times to be established over the whole fleet and an overall winner decided. Following the TIGER DINNER on Saturday evening, the annual Tiger Trophy Pursuit race on Sunday is non-discardable and has for many years been the downfall of some exceptional sailors. The final challenge to win all four races and the special £1000 bounty has still not been met. Prize giving in 2011 will coincide with the opening of the newly constructed John Merricks Training Centre at RSC.
